Bathuaa leaves and young shoots are eaten raw as salads or added in soups, saag, curries, stuffed breads, pancakes, pies and paratha. The seeds of the plant are also used in cooking. Bathuaa is rich in iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, protein and potassium. Bathuaa is low in both, calories and sodium. Its earthy, astringent salty taste resembles spinach to some extent.

Dental Problems
Bathuaa is very effective in treating various dental problems like tooth pain, bad breath, gum disease, mouth sores, etc. Just, chew a few raw bathuaa leaves to get rid of dental problems.

Irregular periods
Women suffering from irregular periods can regulate menstrual cycles naturally with Bathuaa. Make powder of bathuaa seeds & dry ginger (equal quantity) and keep aside. Now, add 15-20 grams of this power to 400 ml of water and boil it until 100 ml of water remains. Sieve the mixture and leave it to cool down. Drink the mixture two times a day to treat the problem.

Kidney Stones
This green leafy vegetable is useful for those suffering from or at risk for kidney stones. It decreases the tendency of stone formation as well as breaks the stones and helps in their removal, causing little or no pain. Make a fine paste of Bathuaa tender leaves & stems and consume 10-15 ml with or without water on empty stomach twice a day (morning and evening).

Try Bathuaa leave infusion to get rid of your constipation problem. Boil Bathuaa tender leaves in water and drink the leave infusion daily. It also improves appetite & digestion, reduces acidity, relieve gas & bloating.

Bathuaa can bring relief when you are suffering from a urinary tract infection. For UTI, mix 10 gms of bathuaa juice with 50 ml water and candy sugar as per taste. Take this concoction on regular basis. Boil bathuaa in water and add lemon, salt and cumin seeds powder. Drink this water to cure burning sensation when urinating

Purify your blood naturally with bathuaa. All you have to do is eat bathuaa leaves with 4-5 neem leaves juice. Blood purification avoids various skin problems such as eczema, acne, rashes, etc.

Bathuaa is as beneficial as Indian gooseberry for your hair. In fact, it contains more vitamins and minerals compared to Indian gooseberry. Bathuaa leaves juice is very beneficial for arthritis sufferers. Drink 2 tsp. bathuaa juice on an empty stomach regularly for 2-3 months.

Side Effects Of Chenopodium Album or Bathuaa

  • Bathuaa contains high amount of oxalic acid so eat this leafy vegetable in moderation (especially raw). Excess consumption can cause gastric pain and diarrhea.
  • Pregnant women should also avoid its consumption as it can lead to miscarriage.
